They were described as the 'must-have' item for summer, but beach trolleys have now made their way off the sand and into the crowdedSydney's Royal Easter Show.

The use of the devices - a cross between a pram and a shopping trolley - has angered some for taking up space at the crowded event.

'When did lugging the kids and the kitchen sink around in a beach trolley at the Easter Show become a thing?' one asked on Reddit.

'A pram, sure I get it, and it's upfront in plain view. But them trolleys, steaming behind the adult - completely inappropriate in crowded areas.'

The issue certainly got people debating, with one commenter saying the mini-wagons had no place at the Show.

'By lunchtime the back of my ankles were certainly copping it from the people just running into me when the crowds were heavy,' they said.

'I did see plenty of the beach trolleys and they all seemed empty apart from the occasional kid in them.'

Another said: 'As a mum offour, I don't understand the appeal. Maybe I've got it down to a fine art when it comes to not carting unnecessary s*** around'.

Aussies are ranting more and more on social media about people bringing their beach trolleys to crowded events like the show

Others couldn't see why beach trolleys were such an issue.

'What's the difference between a big pram and these?' someone asked.

Some blamed the cost of the show, saying families now have to carry around their own food and drinks from home to make it affordable.

'I've never needed one but I can see how if you have multiple water bottles, food, snacks, blanket to sit on etc. is not practical in just a pram,' one person said.

'With the cost of living I try not to judge people because you don't know what they're doing to try to save some money.'

The prices at this year's show have left many gobsmacked as they try and give their family a good day out.

Expensive items include $22 for a cup of gnocchi, $9 for a glass of lemonade and $20 for a Bertie Beetle showbag.

'Easter show is for the elites now,' one said.

Social media users also showed how a kebab cost $20, an Acai bowl was $18, a cheese stick was $8, and a crookie - a cross between croissant and a cookie – went for $14.

'I'm waiting for my bank loan to get approved before I go!' one person said.

Influencer Nikki Potter savaged the show on TikTok on Monday, saying : 'I went to the Easter show today and it was a hell-scape.'

'The crowds were insane, the queues to get anywhere or buy anything were insane.

'The showbags are out of control, most of the starting prices for the showbags were like $30, $32. Even Bertie Beetle is $20, it used to be like $5 in my day.'

Daily Mail Australia contacted the Sydney Royal Easter Show for comment.
